A Review on Brief Study of Calotropis gigantea Linn

Calotropis gigantea Linn is a popular restorative herb commonly known as milk weed & has been utilized in Indian system of medication. In this review, the systematic position, introduction about plant, morphological study, phytochemistry and economical values are discussed. It oval, light green leaves smooth stem. The plant growing wide range soils natural conditions, requiring no cultivation practices. Various pharmacological activities reported like antioxidant activity, anti-malarial antimicrobial cytotoxic antipyretic anti-asthmatic anti-inflammatory analgesic insecticidal wound healing activity anti-diarrheal activity.

A new pregnanone, named calotropone (1), was isolated from the EtOH extract of the roots of Calotropis gigantea L. together with a known cardiac glycoside.
